Ryan Gosling Embarrassed By Street Fight Video

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- A video of Ryan Gosling breaking up a New York City street fight made its way to the Internet last month, showing the Crazy, Stupid, Love. star biceps bulging out of his nautical tank stepping between two men who appeared to be throwing blows over an allegedly stolen painting. However, the 30-year-old hunk says that while his actions were well-intentioned, in hindsight, he wishes he wouldve stayed out of the scuffle. Im embarrassed. I think that guy really was stealing that other guys painting, so I should have just kept my nose out of it, Ryan told MTV News of the incident while promoting his new film, Drive. It was sad, because it turns out that I said to the guy, Why are you doing this? He said, Well, he tried to steal my painting. I said, How do you know? and he said, Well, he comes here every day and looks at my paintings, which means the guy was a fan, and so he wanted the painting so bad he had to steal it because he couldnt afford it. So he finally steals the painting, and then hes getting his ass kicked by his hero, and then the guy from The Notebook shows up and makes it weirder, Ryan continued, referencing his epic 2004 love story movie (co-starring Rachel McAdams) with a sheepish smile. Its just the whole thing, nobody wins, nobody won. After being assured he did indeed win by an MTV producer, Ryan insisted there was not a clear winner in the art brawl, but offered an explanation as to why he heroically jumped in. I did not win, the actor said. I had just come from the gymnasium, and I was all stretched out and feeling warmed up. So, Im embarrassed. Ryans latest film, Drive, which also features Carey Mulligan, Ron Perlman and Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston, hits theaters on September 16. Copyright 2011 by NBC Universal, Inc.
