Weekend Receipts: Lion King Plays Hardball Against Moneyball

The “Circle of Existence” remains unchecked because the Lion King (in three dimensional) capped Moneyball to win the weekend receipt war for any second week consecutively. Kaira Pitt is not to become embarrassed with, though, as the love project notched the greatest opening weekend for just about any baseball movie ever. Actually, a few large records were set a few days ago. Following the jump, we’ll count lower the greatest earners and lament the plight of Rachelle Lefervre. 1. The Lion King (in three dimensional) Gross: $22,130,000 ($61,676,000) Screens: 2,330 Although it arrived second on Friday’s tally, The Lion King (in three dimensional) roared again on Saturday — a larger movie day for families — and drawn through having a slim victory. However, may be the Lion King truly the Disney jam you want to see in fulgent 3-D? I’d give almost anything to see Cruella p Vil’s husky fur coat and jutting clavicle defy some time and space. 2. Moneyball Gross: $20,600,000 (new) Screens: 2,993 Though he lost his legendary hair fight with Robert Redford yesterday, Kaira Pitt can continue to call themself a victor: Moneyball’s earnings put it in front of Benchwarmers, The Rookie, and my beloved A League that belongs to them’s opening weekends (not counting for inflation). It’s an very well-examined movie too, meaning we ought to expect it to stay a large player within the days in the future. The question for you is what type of Oscar contender it's. 3. Dolphin Tale Gross: $20,260,000 (new) Screens: 3,507 Oh, had you been considering counting out Harry Connick Junior. and also the miracle of whales out of this roundup? You fool. Dolphin Tale’s very proud showing makes this the very first September weekend ever to feature three films with $20 million intakes. I would like a follow up known as Memphis Beluga. Now, to the sadness. 4. Abduction Gross: $11,200,000 (new) Screens: 3,118 Despite the fact that the immortal Sigourney Weaver charmed us within this mixed-up, ultimately silly movie, unhealthy buzz and unconvincing starpower of Rachelle Lefervre set Abduction up for any weak turnout. Let’s consider the good side: Sigourney loves Hitchcock movies and it is prepared to discuss them thorough. Redemption. 5. Killer Elite Gross: $9,500,000 Screens: 2,986 And the other factor about bad buzz: Following the first trailer for Killer Elite made an appearance, writers agreed the film would be a nondescript Jason Statham vehicle that happened to costar Clive Owen and Robert P Niro. Following the red-colored band trailer made an appearance, its fate was sealed. A lot more like Killer Remove. Guh-her. 6. Contagion Gross: $8,565,000 ($57,122,000) Screens: 3,136 I, for just one, miss when Contagion was the large champion. There have been “contagious” head lines to become made, Purell puns to become hewn, and Peggy Lee-assisted “Fever” montages to edit. Now all I would like is really a Peggy Lee-assisted Lady and also the Tramp (in three dimensional)” motion picture experience. Please spew this forth, Disney vault. Weekend Chart [Box Office Mojo]

Leven Rambin Finds Mavericks

She'll hang 10 with Gerard ButlerLeven Rambin acquired a sizable film break this year when she won the role of Glimmer, one of the tributes who participate in the dangerous gladiatorial event that comprises the central competition inside the Hunger Games. Also it seems that she's now punching the radar of other filmmakers, with Curtis Hanson picking her since the female lead for surfing pic Mavericks. Gerard Butler and Jonny Weston are starring inside the true story of legendary large wave surfer Jay Moriarty's ride from his sport. Butler is onto play Ron "Chilled" Hesson, the man who mentored the greater youthful Moriarty (Weston) and seen him become most likely the most known audiences of his generation. Rambin, who before she acquired the Hunger Games role had put their hands up in Gigantic together with a slew of TV parts, is really a California surfer girl who's both Moriarty's nearest friend as well as the lady he loves. Moriarty increased being most broadly noted for his reliance on the Northern California surf place known to as Mavericks (hence the title), where the waves during the cold months several weeks is capable of as much as five-storey structures. Getting a script by Brandon Hooper, Hanson is planning to direct the film, though there's no set start date yet.

Execs Talk Future Of 3D, Distribution And Technology In Entertainment

The Irish Technology Leadership Group launched its Hollywood chapter tonight with an eventat Sony Pictures Studios that included a panel discussion among execs from companies such as HBO, Warner Bros and BBC Worldwide. Panelists at Innovation in Entertainment, as the evening was billed, discussed the new ways people consume entertainment, how much they’re willing to pay for it (increasingly, that amount is nothing, one said), and whether they’ve even caught up to all the technology out there. The future is in knowing how to pitch and make the right product at the right time and place, said Jay Roewe, HBO’s SVP West Coast production. “Computer programmers that understand the film biz — that’s the kind of people I want to work with because I know I’m going to adapt to the future in a very big way,” Roewe said. One example of HBO embracing technology is social media integration in its new comedy series Veep, starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus. “The producers said, ‘If you have these ideas you want to do, come to us.’ The core is our programming, but it’s leading us down the road to other content,” Roewe said. TheVeep team decided to work Twitter into the show so viewers can follow along at home. Roewe also detailed a cost-cutting measure on HBO’s epicGame of Thrones, which shot in Belfast using a new digital camera instead of film, a risk that technology allowed the team to take. Robert Nashak, EVP digital entertainment at BBC Worldwide, touted a Torchwood app in conjunction with Starz that features content written by the series’ scribes and voiced by its actors. The app creates alternate story worlds and “reaches users anywhere they happen to be,” Nashak said. Another extra for BBC Worldwide is a massively multiplayer online game for sci-fi series Doctor Who, which would bring gamer data to the network, in addition to its “actionable analytics” — Twitter and Facebook activity that reveals how viewers feel about different parts of the show. “This data will be useful and relied on more and more as time goes on,” Nashak said. The shift in distribution platforms is another growing concern. Warner Bros’ SVP postproduction Bill Daly said he sees the industry eventually providing content directly to the consumer. Because of this, companies are looking to move away from the idea that you “launch it and leave it,” said Nashak. “The community and fanbase need constant nurturing.” One remaining sticking point in tech innovations is 3D. Daly credited 3D with the proliferation of digital cinema, but Rich Moran, a Silicon Valley venture capitalist on the panel, shot back, “I’m not so sure about 3D.” He then made an example of the evening’s earlier speaker George Bailey, Sony’s chief transformation officer, who had donned a Sony visor at the podium. The U-shaped visor, which the company unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show this year, allows its wearer to watch a movie on the equivalent of a 750-inch TV screen. Moran said there might be great technology in the visor, he just doesn’t know what it is, and said that technology is moving far ahead of what consumers are willing to accept. “Until you get rid of the glasses, it’s not going to happen,” he said of 3D. Moran thinks what shapes the future from the VC point of view is a “glimmer of greatness, like the Sony visor. They know it’s all converging. Any company that can prove they have a big idea, there’s money to invest.” But Moran also made the point that the expectation from consumers is that entertainment is going to be free. “If it isn’t free, they’ll find a way to get it for free,” he said. So on top of doubts about fans of 3D wanting to walk around their home wearing a visor, there’s the price tag of the gadgets and the content itself. Rovi president and CEO Fred Amoroso sees 3D being used in homes now, and he said as the trend grows, it will be available on more devices. “It’ll have its niches, just like any technology,” Amoroso said. The chief of Rovi, which focuses on digital home entertainment products, said the biggest challenge in entertainment technology is not the next big thing, but the adoption of what’s here now. He said studios shouldn’t feel the need to adapt, but “be willing to take risks and take the opportunity to innovate.” The ITLG is a four-year-old nonprofit with chapters in Silicon Valley and NY. It aims to help Ireland embrace new technology and to promote Northern Ireland as a contributor to the entertainment world. The night’s panel was moderated by Bloomberg TV senior producer Nora Zimmett.

All-Star Disaster Movies: Is 'Contagion' most likely probably the most Star-Studded of these?

'Contagion' finds plenty of large names -- Gwyneth Paltrow, Matt Damon, Jude Law, Laurence Fishburne, Kate Winslet, Marion Cotillard, Elliott Gould, and even more -- dealing with an out-of-control bird flu epidemic. By getting an exciting-star cast that rivals the old Irwin Allen productions within the seventies, we're not able to help but question: where does 'Contagion' stack facing the finest disaster epics ever? Does it put more Oscar individuals who win in risk in comparison to original 'The Poseidon Adventure?' Warning: Some spoilers for who bites the big one inch these classic movies. 15. 'Volcano' (1997) Finest names: Tommy Lee Manley, Anne Heche, Don Cheadle Awesome (but condemned) character actor: Michael Rispoli Oscar individuals who win: 1 (Manley) Haven't I seen your self on TV? John Corbett ('Sex as well as the City' and 'Northern Exposure') Despite Tommy Lee Jones' perfectly no-nonsense approach to wrangling lava, lots of no-title stars preclude this from achieving true "all-star" status. 14. 'The Core' (2003) Finest names: Aaron Eckhart, Hilary Swank, Stanley Tucci Awesome (but condemned) character stars: Bruce Greenwood, Delroy Lindo Oscar individuals who win: 1 (Swank) Following a few impressive magnetics-gone-haywire sequences, this thriller quickly can get sillier balance much deeper our terranauts explore our planet's core. No less than -- in classic disaster movie tradition -- several familiar faces don't achieve the conclusion in the film, when they bite the dust, we are feeling the requisite pangs. 13. 'The Following Day Of Tomorrow' (2004) Finest names: Dennis Quaid, Mike Gyllenhaal, Sela Ward Awesome (but condemned) character stars: Ian Holm, Jay O. Sanders Oscar individuals who win: none Not a problem while using two leads, but if we are prone to cry "Not again!" whenever we get easily easily wiped in the map by tornadoes or killer waves, they need to have filled the cast with elevated people we recognize. Points, no less than, for your demise of pretty-boy leader Perry King as well as the truly sad last moments of Ian Holm and crew. 12. 'Earthquake' (1974) Finest names: Charlton Heston, Ava Gardner, Geneviève Bujold, Richard Roundtree Oscar individuals who win: 2 (Heston and disaster movie staple George Kennedy) Haven't I seen your self on TV? Lorne Greene ('Bonanza'), Victoria Principal ('Dallas') In any manner relative it is, 'Earthquake' is rather unimpressive. The results are cheap as well as the cast barely registers concerning the Richter scale. We love to Charlton Heston, but we'd more fun watching him fight people damn dirty apes or stopping zombies in the publish-apocalyptic La. 11. '2012' (2009) Finest names: John Cusack, Amanda Peet, Oliver Platt, Thandie Newton, Danny Glover, Woodsy Harrelson Oscar individuals who win: none Whatever you considered the script or that ending, it's a nicely packed cast of people we like to, getting a fantastically catastrophic dying toll. 10. 'The Poseidon Adventure' (1972) Finest names: Gene Hackman, Ernest Borgnine, Shelley Winters Awesome (but condemned) character stars: Leslie Nielsen, Roddy McDowall Oscar individuals who win: 4 (Hackman, Borgnine, Winters and Red-colored-colored Buttons) Would you over-the-top Gene Hackman equal the star wattage of, say, Paul Newman and Steve McQueen? No, but this high-water mark in disaster movies comprises for having less A-listers having its boat-flipping moments and self-sacrificial dramatics. Plus an Oscar-winning theme song! 9. 'Airport 1975' (1974) Finest names: Charlton Heston, Karen Black, Linda Blair, Gloria Swanson, Myrna Loy, Dana Andrews, George Kennedy Oscar individuals who win: 2 (Heston and Kennedy, together again again) Haven't I seen your self on TV? Yes, that's Erik ('CHiPs') Estrada You won't ever rival this kind of casting they'd inside the '70s, where a star from quiet films (Swanson) could rub elbows while using girl from 'The Exorcist' and pop singer Helen Reddy. 8. 'The Perfect Storm' (2000) Finest names: George Clooney, Mark Wahlberg, Diane Lane Awesome (but condemned) character stars: John C. Reilly, William Fichtner, John Hawkes Oscar individuals who win: none (Clooney didn't get his until 2006) We'd rank this movie greater, nevertheless the dying count and scale in the disaster is dwarfed by movies like 'Deep Impact' (see below). Plus, that cheesy farewell hallucination of Wahlberg cost them several things. 7. 'Airport' (1970) Finest names: Burt Lancaster, Dean Martin, Jacqueline Bisset Oscar individuals who win: 4 (Lancaster, Helen Hayes, Van Heflin and, yep, George Kennedy again) The disaster movie that started everything: a few slightly over-the-hill stars, occurrences where more over-the-hill stars in the bygone era, then one hot babe are in a existence-threatening situation. Permit the Oscar-worthy overacting (as well as the dying toll) begin! "It's the finest all-star cast ever come up with for just about any single Universal film!Inch has a clip (below). 6. 'Outbreak' (1995) Finest names: Dustin Hoffman, Rene Russo, Morgan Freeman, Cuba Gooding Junior., Jesse Sutherland Awesome (but condemned) character actor: Kevin Spacey Haven't I seen your self on TV? Patrick Dempsey ('Grey's Anatomy') as virus victim # 1. Search the grunge! Oscar individuals who win: 1 (Hoffman), with future individuals who win Freeman, Gooding and Spacey We never quite bought Dustin Hoffman becoming an action hero, but what's not to love of a virus-run-amok movie together with your an entertaining cast? RIP, Dempsey and Spacey. Your touching movie deaths were merely a walking stone to greater billing. 5. 'The Cassandra Crossing' (1976) Finest names: Ava Gardner, Richard Harris, Burt Lancaster, Sophia Loren, Martin Sheen Awesome (but condemned) character actor: Lee Strasberg Oscar individuals who win: 2 (Lancaster, Loren) Many of them may have been past their prime, however, these stars continued to be as stars getting a capital S if the movie showed up in this area. Which is future leader Martin Sheen as Ava Gardner's hot boy toy and O.J. Simpson (fitted just like a priest!) inside the same movie! 4. 'The Swarm' (1978) Finest names: Michael Caine, Henry Fonda, Katharine Ross, Richard Widmark Disaster movie staple: Richard Chamberlain Oscar individuals who win: 4 (Olivia p Havilland, Patty Duke, Lee Grant, Ben Manley), with future individuals who win Caine and Fonda By 1978, moviemakers had used virtually every disaster imaginable, but there's a good amount of old-school and current stars ready to face certain dying by fire, earthquake or, in this situation, a swarm of killer bees. Unlike Winters in 'The Poseidon Adventure' and Hayes in 'Airport,' nobody saw any Oscar nominations with this particular puppy. 3. 'Deep Impact' (1998) Finest names: Robert Duvall, Téa Leoni, Elijah Wood, Morgan Freeman, James Cromwell, Leelee Sobieski, Blair Underwood Oscar individuals who win: 3 (Duvall, Vanessa Redgrave, Maximillian Schell), with future champion Freeman Haven't I seen your self on TV? Ron Eldard and Laura Innes ('ER'), Kurtwood Cruz ('That 70s Show'), Richard Schiff ('The West Wing') Now this is just what we're talking about: an introduction to tiers of society, within the leader to news anchors to regular families, wrestling while using large issues of who should live and who should die just like a meteor hurtles toward Earth. (We'd include 'Armageddon,' other than the disaster never really happened and nearly everyone lives.) 2. 'Contagion' (2011) Finest names: Matt Damon, Laurence Fishburne, Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Winslet Oscar individuals who win: 4 (Marion Cotillard, Damon, Paltrow and Winslet) Haven't I seen your self on TV? Dr. Sanjay Gupta plays themselves When you're Steven Soderbergh, you'll be able to assemble a thrilling-star cast when you wish, whether you'll probably request your stars to make the most of casinos, stop drug trafficking, or face lower a deadly epidemic. 1. 'The Towering Inferno' (1974) Finest names: Steve McQueen, Paul Newman, Faye Dunaway, Fred Astaire, Robert Wagner Disaster movie staples: Richard Chamberlain, O.J. Simpson Oscar individuals who win: 2 (William Holden, Jennifer Manley), with future individuals who win Newman and Dunaway We're not to imply it's the best disaster movie available, however, you can't beat the star energy of McQueen and Newman, when both were inside their prime. The familiarity in the supporting cast as well as the inevitable timetable by which they meet their disaster (or amazingly survive) is what we call the defacto standard of-star disaster movies. WWE Celebrity Triple H on As being a Leading Guy in 'Inside Out' & Beating Up Al Sharpton

Within the wake of Dwayne "The Rock" Manley being a box office world champion, the locker room of World Wrestling Entertainment is stuffed with wrestlers searching to create the enter television and film. WWE, consequently, became a member of them -- the sports entertainment company now features its own film studio. The most recent film created by WWE Galleries is 'Inside Out,' a gritty crime thriller striking choose theaters on Friday which stars wrestling legend Hunter Hearst Helmsley (a/k/a Triple H, a/k/a "The Overall Game," a/k/a "The King of Nobleman"). The actual-existence boy-in-law of WWE owner Vince McMahon, Triple H is poised to consider over his wrestling empire eventually -- provided he isn't too busy wrestling in No-Holds-Barred matches on pay-per-view (which he's doing on Sept. 18) or starring for action movies like 'Inside Out.' Moviefone spoke with Triple H about engaging in fist-fights with Hollywood stars, watching cartoons about princesses, and something day creating a 'Cannonball Run' remake using the entire WWE caravan of stars. For me, and i believe many people think this, Vince McMahon is wrestling, and you are likely to be getting that position at some point, so speaking for you is much like speaking to Vince McMahon. Vince does not do many interviews, which means you better just speak with me. You shouldn't be biased by everything you find out about me. I am way worse. On one of the first instances of Smackdown you have inside a fight with Arnold Schwarzenegger. Yeah. He whooped my ass. How hard does he really hit? Be truthful. Arnold was designed to struck me once and that i was gonna go lower. After which Arnold made the decision to leap on the top of me striking me about twenty more occasions, but it is Arnold Schwarzenegger, what am I designed to do, throw him off and begin pounding him? Arnold just received caught up inside a live moment and then factor I understood, Arnold was on me just like a pack of weiner dogs beating me senseless. Hugh Jackman is guest-hosting an approaching episode of Raw, and that he joins a lengthy listing of celebrity guest hosts -- but was there ever a number which had a pedigree visiting them? Let me give someone to Bob Barker, just 'cause it's Bob Barker. However, you know who I'd have loved to pedigree is Al Sharpton. Al Sharpton was the guest host and that he turned up 10 mins before he did his factor, he made it happen, and that he left 5 minutes later. He could not have cared less, he called it in. It had been the worst appearance ever. The majority of the men come on the program plus they understand what we're and they would like to have some fun. Dennis Burns came on and that he was amusing on-camera, amusing off-camera. Dennis emerged in my experience and that he goes, "My existence is complete. I simply got comedy advice from Vince McMahon." Vince would literally end up like "Dennis, come here. You have to say your jokes reduced 'cause..." Vince can give anybody direction. WWE galleries continues to be considered a brand new venture, what is your opinion must happen that you should have your "WrestleMania moment" in Hollywood? It is a work happening. When you begin a studio, I do not care what you are, it isn't like you are obtaining the cream from the crop pick of scripts. If you are an actress and somebody pops up for you having a project you are gonna say, "who's it for, who's inside it, and what else they have done?" I believe we have designed a couple of movies which have been decent enough for all of us to have the ability to start getting to another level. Shall we be creating A-list stuff? Definitely not, but we are trying to puzzle out the things that work for all of us, the things that work for the group of followers and what everyone will buy our men in and never buy our men in. We obtain the microscope since it instantly has a WWE tag. But reasonably, for the quantity of films we have released, we are doing pretty decent, and it is only getting better. In the finish during the day, there are 2 separate things, there's WWE, the wrestling, and WWE, the company which makes that wrestling effective. Watch a clip for 'Inside Out' I lately reached hear your 'Inside Out' co-star Bruce Dern speak in a career retrospective. That guy is among the finest storytellers I have heard. The very first day I met him, we began to talk a bit and Bruce begins saying a tale, plus they immediately call me to create but he's speaking he clearly listens to them and that he goes in one story straight to a different one, no break, and today they'd been awaiting about 20 minutes, and they are losing it, and he's still speaking. And Bruce only agreed to be playing together. He was ongoing to inform tales simply to wreck havoc on Artie [Mandleberg, the director]. Bruce explained one factor on among the last days he shot. It had been very difficult to allow them to make him the set and that he just produced this type of large stink. We've got done shooting and that he drawn me aside and that he was like, "I trained these men an essential lesson today. It certainly is helpful to push these phones see precisely how far you will get Them." I Quickly recognized, my dear god, he's been playing together the entire time. He only agreed to be entertaining themself. Exactly what does WWE Galleries have planned next? We simply finished a film known as 'No One Lives,' this is a upright horror, R-ranked. It's funny, as we say we have got a couple of kid's movies, now it's: "all WWE does is kids movies." I do not think anybody expected us to create 'That's Things I Am' either. A film about prejudices and bullying and also the story of the teacher along with a kid that will get cajolled. It's totally different for all of us. But Vince see clearly and felt enthusiastic about the storyline and stated "this can be a excellent story. Could it be gonna make us a lot of money? Not a chance." We are attempting to think problem and long term. It is possible to kind of movie you would like to call at your studio make? Personally, i would like to create a straight comedy. Whenever we did 'Blade: Trinity,' despite the fact that it is a different type of film, shooting the funny stuff where we're able to ad lib with Ryan [Reynolds], was probably the most fun of. Ok now what wouldn't it take to obtain a 'Cannonball Run' remake starring the whole WWE locker room? That's not necessarily a bad idea, will i reached cut you in on that? I am just echoing the demand fans need to see that. They remake a lot of things, and i believe, "Why can you even remake that? It had been garbage the very first time installed it.Inch However you say something similar to 'Cannonball Run,' where that might be phenomenal when they made that now. That's something they ought to redo. What movies would you watch on the path to take the mind from the match? Honestly, I do not. I did previously, but we are so busy with television and also the behind-the-moments that after we are on the highway, I am not kidding, you begin focusing on that demonstrate whenever you awaken first factor each morning. Once the plane lands, you receive off and then try to obtain a couple of hrs of sleep 'cause you are destined to be up in the first light and go back home the following day. I've three women, a five, a 3, along with a baby. Whether it's not really a cartoon which involves princesses I do not watch it. We are gonna play a round of word association. Let us say WWE Galleries was around within the 80s and 90s and also you were a producer, what type of movie do you consider these celebrities would have been ideal for: Hulk Hogan? Oh god, anything cheesy. Mike "The Lizard" Roberts? Western villain. D-Generation-X? Comedy. Vince McMahon? 'Wall Street.' Bill Goldberg? Any movie that required itself too seriously. The Best Warrior? Either crazy out-there advanced space movie -- or absolute stoner film.

Maysles (together with his late brother David) started his ongoing curiosity about filming music artists -- rockers, mostly -- once the Beatles showed up within the U.S. at the begining of 1964 making a sensation on "The Erectile dysfunction Sullivan Show." But due to his insistence on "direct cinema," and the refusal to control or stage occasions while watching camera, the depiction from the Great Four along with other notables (in the Moving Gemstones in "Gimme Shelter" to Brando carrying out a publicity junket in "Meet Marlon Brando") will get as near as cinema may let it viewing celebs within their natural skin. With co-director Bradley Kaplan, Maysles aims to become as invisible as you possibly can while McCartney preps for that concert, practicing material together with his bandmates Abe Laboriel Junior. (drums), Gabe Dixon (keyboards, vocals) and Rusty Anderson (guitar, vocals), or handles sit-lower interviews with Serta Rather (in those days still with "an hourInch), Pat O'Brien ("E.T." host, pre-scandal) and Howard Stern in the radio studio. This enables Maysles to get rid of their own interview (that they will not do regardless, though a couple of moments of him relaxing in his limo compare). Additionally, it offers the documaker with lots of possibilities to look at the methods from the media, a topic of endless fascination for that filmmaker. Though sometimes hamming up, McCartney exudes a boyish energy along with a genuine excitement concerning the approaching Madison Square Garden gig, a lot to ensure that it's difficult to think the huge tragedy of 9/11 was just five weeks' old during the time of shooting. This same geniality and high-spiritedness extend not just to a number of McCartney's fellow entertainers and hosts (for example James Taylor, Billy Joel, Jim Carrey and Pete Townshend), but to well-wishers he finds while walking the city's roads, inside a amusing sequence well suited for Maysles' passion for the taken spontaneous moment. Other famous well-wishers include Harrison Ford, Leonardo DiCaprio along with a garrulous Bill Clinton, caught here backstage in possibly probably the most natural condition he's have you been seen on film. The minute, untouched charm Clinton radiates provides a feeling of a persons touch that made him this type of formidable politician. The concert material, drawn in the public (color) broadcast, chooses short highlights from various functions. It's not hard to tell which of them Maysles, Kaplan and editor Ian Markiewicz especially like, including David Bowie's absolutely original version of Paul Simon's "America" on the toy guitar, and Joel entirely-throated strength on "New You are able to Frame of mind." For reasons unknown, Maysles -- who made probably the most effective of Gemstones films with "Gimme Shelter" -- appears to possess steered obvious of Jagger and Keith Richards (who're glimpsed for any brief moment within the black-and-whitened footage, and rock out superbly on "Miss You") throughout filming, or they him. Tech credits proper care of Maysles Films' small unit are evenly excellent, though unafraid to be as raw as you possibly can.Digital camera (B&W/color, 16mm-to-HD), Maysles editor, Ian Markiewicz music, Paul McCartney, Jay Z, Elton John, Billy Joel, the Moving Gemstones, Paul Simon, James Taylor, the Who seem (stereo system), Peter Burns supervisory seem editor, Martin Czembor re-recording mixer, Andy Kris connect producer, Chris McCue. Ryan Gosling Embarrassed By Street Fight Video

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- A video of Ryan Gosling breaking up a New York City street fight made its way to the Internet last month, showing the Crazy, Stupid, Love. star biceps bulging out of his nautical tank stepping between two men who appeared to be throwing blows over an allegedly stolen painting. However, the 30-year-old hunk says that while his actions were well-intentioned, in hindsight, he wishes he wouldve stayed out of the scuffle. Im embarrassed. I think that guy really was stealing that other guys painting, so I should have just kept my nose out of it, Ryan told MTV News of the incident while promoting his new film, Drive. It was sad, because it turns out that I said to the guy, Why are you doing this? He said, Well, he tried to steal my painting. I said, How do you know? and he said, Well, he comes here every day and looks at my paintings, which means the guy was a fan, and so he wanted the painting so bad he had to steal it because he couldnt afford it. So he finally steals the painting, and then hes getting his ass kicked by his hero, and then the guy from The Notebook shows up and makes it weirder, Ryan continued, referencing his epic 2004 love story movie (co-starring Rachel McAdams) with a sheepish smile. Its just the whole thing, nobody wins, nobody won. After being assured he did indeed win by an MTV producer, Ryan insisted there was not a clear winner in the art brawl, but offered an explanation as to why he heroically jumped in. I did not win, the actor said. I had just come from the gymnasium, and I was all stretched out and feeling warmed up. So, Im embarrassed. Ryans latest film, Drive, which also features Carey Mulligan, Ron Perlman and Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston, hits theaters on September 16. Copyright 2011 by NBC Universal, Inc. John Boyega Attacks Da Brick

Spike Lee's new HBO boxing dramaAs one of the clear new discoveries of the year, Attack the Block's John Boyega has happily registered on Hollywood's radar, and he's just nabbed his first big US job. Boyega has landed one of the lead roles in Spike Lee's new HBO drama Da Brick, which is based on aspects of former boxer Mike Tyson's youth. Spearheaded by Entourage creator Doug Ellin, Da Brick will revolve around the titular character, AKA boxer Donnie (Boyega) and his friends and family. In the pilot, written by Red Tails' John Ridley and which Lee will direct, Donnie is released from juvenile detention on his 18th birthday and must start to find his way in the world. The show is described as "a contemporary exploration of what it means to be a young, black man in a supposedly post-racial America. "Also in the cast are Milauna Jemai as Donnie's mother, Julito McCullum as Kevin, his troubled best friend and Kamahl Naiqui Palmer as Malik, who has enjoyed a better upbringing than his mates but still struggles with his environment. If HBO actually commissions a full series, Ridley will run the show and Boyega will get a chance to break out properly in the States. That said, we figure he'll manage either way. He'll next be seen alongside Eddie Marsan and Romola Garai in Junkhearts.
